Terms of use

The rules for using garlicoin.org, in plain words. By using the site you agree to them. The most important part: your coins and keys are yours, and so is the responsibility for them.

The short version

The details

  1. Who we are. garlicoin.org is a community-run site with tools and information for Garlicoin. It isn't the Garlicoin project itself, an exchange, a bank or a financial adviser, and nothing here is financial advice.
  2. No custody. We don't store, hold or control anyone's GRLC, except the site's own coins (such as the faucet's). Payments for site features and to sellers go straight to the address shown.
  3. Your keys, your responsibility. You are responsible for keeping private keys, gift links, recovery words and wallet files safe and backed up, and for checking any address before you send to it. Anyone who has a private key or a gift link can take the coins it holds.
  4. No warranty. The site and its tools are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We don't promise they're error-free, always available, or right for your purpose. Try any tool with a small amount first.
  5. Limits on liability. To the fullest extent the law allows, garlicoin.org and the people who run it aren't liable for any loss of coins, money, data or profit, or any other damage, that comes from using the site, its tools, or services it relies on, including bugs, outages, mistakes, lost keys, or changes in Garlicoin's price.
  6. Services we rely on. Some tools depend on others: the Garlicoin network, community Electrum servers, Cloudflare, captcha providers and block explorers. We don't control them and aren't responsible for them.
  7. Free features. The faucet, Block Lotto and games are free, with no purchase needed. Payouts and prizes depend on the site's funds and rules, which we may change, pause or end at any time. Abuse (bots, multiple accounts, VPN farming) gets blocked.
  8. Paid features. Payments for site features (wall messages, garlic names, claimed blocks and the rest) are final. Garlic names and claimed blocks are features of this site, not property: we may hide or remove anything that breaks these rules, and the site could one day shut down.
  9. Sellers and shops. People selling through Sell something, the marketplace or listed in the directory are responsible for what they sell and for their buyers. We don't check, guarantee or refund their sales. The marketplace has its own rules, below.
  10. Be decent. Don't use the site for anything illegal, to scam or harm people, to post others' private information, or to attack or overload the site. We may block access for anyone who does.
  11. Changes. We may update these terms. The date below shows the latest version; using the site after a change means you accept it.

Marketplace rules

  1. Trades are between buyer and seller. The marketplace is software that lets people list things and pay each other. We aren't a party to any sale, we don't hold anyone's coins, and we can't refund, reverse, release or freeze a payment.
  2. Deposit escrow needs both of you. With escrow, the coins go to an address that only the buyer's and seller's wallets together can move. Until you both sign a payout (a release, a refund or any split you agree on), nobody can move them, us included. If you never agree, they stay locked for good, and we can't settle disputes or unlock them. Only put in what you could live with having locked.
  3. Direct payments have no protection. Pay on pickup, pay on delivery and pay first go straight from the buyer's wallet to the seller's. Once sent, a payment is final.
  4. Not allowed: weapons, ammunition and explosives; drugs, drug paraphernalia and prescription medicines; alcohol, tobacco and vaping products; stolen goods; counterfeits, replicas and fake documents; anything that infringes someone's copyright or trademark; adult content and services; live animals; hazardous materials; recalled products; accounts, personal data or hacking services; gambling, investments, loans and other financial products; cash, gift cards sold for cash, and other cryptocurrencies; and anything illegal where the seller or the buyer lives.
  5. Sellers: describe things honestly, use your own photos, send what you sold, and follow the laws that apply to you, including taxes, consumer rules and shipping rules. Buyers: ask before you buy, and don't release an escrow payment until you have the item.
  6. Messages are private. They're encrypted between the two wallets, so we can't read them. Keep your own copies (screenshots) if you need a record.
  7. Ratings and listings are public. A listing, its photos and the seller's wallet address can be seen by anyone, and ratings stay with the trade they came from.
  8. We may remove any listing or keep a wallet out of the marketplace, at any time and without notice, especially after a report. See something that breaks these rules? Use the report link on the listing.
